Mission & Vision

Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world

Our Mission

Wesley Memorial is proud to be a Lighthouse Congregation in the United Methodist Collective, a ministry of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church that seeks to intentionally welcome those who have lost their church home due to disaffiliation.

We are committed to remaining in the United Methodist Church and to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. If you are looking for a new church home, we would love for you to join us here.

Our Vision

As a community of faith in Wilmington, NC, we are called to share the love of Christ with all people, to serve our neighbors with compassion and justice, and to provide a welcoming and safe environment for spiritual growth and fellowship. We are committed to being a beacon of hope and transformation in our community, and to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, education, fellowship, and service.

We are people who love Scripture, feel called to Christian service, and who strongly support one another in following Jesus throughout our lives. We’ve been incredibly loved by God, and we’d like to help you know that you are too.

Our Story

For more than 100 years, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church has prayerfully sought to know Christ and make him known in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Located at the busy intersection of College Road and Oleander Drive, Wesley Memorial is pivotally located in the heart of this thriving city on the sea. Whether you’re visiting while on vacation, newly moved to the area, or a long-time New Hanover County resident, we’d love to meet you and welcome you to Wesley.

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
~ Matthew 28:16-20
